In 1963 The Bucks Record Society published A Hand-list of Estate Maps by E. Elvey. With their permission a digital copy is available and downloadable from this web site.
There was a subsequent publication of an Addenda which added a further 19 maps to the those in the Handlist.
This Addenda was itself part of a larger publication Buckinghamshire Estate maps Bucks Record Society 1964. This is an A5 publication of black and white photocopies of 17 selected oldest maps from the Hand-list. The PDF here is of the cover and contents page only. The actual copied maps are not included here as their resolution is so poor.
A further aid to using this material are the handwritten notes on the copy of the Handlist held at Bucks Archives. These have been transcribed and are shown in the List of Amendments.
Although almost 50 years old the Handlist is still a useful source of reference but be sure to consult both the Addenda and the Amendments list as well. Since 1963/4 a number of additional estate maps have been found but no modern update to the list has been made.
When reading the lists/addenda you will note that many maps have a BAS reference. These maps are owned by BAS, but the paper originals are held at Bucks Archives, these have been scanned for downloading from this website on the digitised maps page.
